Choosing the Right Kelowna Neighbourhood To Buy A Home

When searching through real estate listings, there’s plenty to consider before purchasing property; finding a great location in the Kelowna area to buy a house should be top priority, and here… we’re lucky. We have plenty of amazing communities to choose from. Try making a list of the things that matter to you. A couple of things to consider? Location, amenities, schools and crime. Take a look!

Location

Whether you want to live in the eco-friendly neighbourhood of Wilden or invest in a waterfront property along Upper Mission, when searching through home listings in Central Okanagan, you really can’t go wrong. Try compiling a list of amenities you want in close proximity and search for homes within those guidelines. For example, if you want to be near a variety of shopping and restaurant options, choosing a home in Glenmore or Lower Mission would be a great idea. Or, if you crave a quiet country lifestyle, property in South East Kelowna may be more what you’re looking for.

Amenities

Do you love checking out all the latest cafes and restaurants and hitting up trendy boutiques downtown on Bernard? Or perhaps you enjoy gardening to the soundtrack of birds while overlooking a picturesque view of the valley below? Whatever it is you’re after, consider buying a house in a place that will closely meet your needs.

Schools

If you have a family, ensuring they’re on a bus route with easy access to great schools may be worth looking into. Looking for schools in Lower Mission? There, you’ll find Okanagan Mission Secondary. Searching for property in Rutland? Rutland Middle School, Rutland Elementary and Rutland Senior Secondary are all within the area. Usually, you can’t go wrong when it comes to schools no matter which location you’re looking at but it’s still good to do some “education” pre-planning before signing any papers.

Crime

Ready to put an offer in on a home? Understanding the crime rate in that particular neighbourhood is always wise before making a commitment. You may fall in love with a certain house, but what is the area around it like? Find out about vandalism, break-ins and sex offenders before getting too attached so that way you don’t have serious realty regrets once you’re all moved in.

Living in Kelowna, we’re lucky to be surrounded by an overwhelming amount of quality real estate options. It’s just a matter of figuring out what it is that you like and dislike and picking a neighbourhood based on your own discretion. The ultimate question is this: Where will you and your family feel happy? I live and breathe real estate! When you’re ready to purchase a house you’ll love, I’m here for you from the very beginning.
