5 Ways to Have Fun (and Keep Warm) this Winter

It’s no secret that the Okanagan Valley is full of exciting warm weather activities to participate in. It’s why we’re known as a tourist city, after all! However, just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of things to do in Kelowna this winter. If you’re looking for fun date or group outing ideas, I’ve listed a few popular suggestions below.

Sample Culinary Delights at Big White

While Big White is technically an outdoor activity, planning a day trip without the skis can still be a memorable option. A small community in itself, Big White Ski Resort is so much more than simply champagne powder. It’s filled with some of the best restaurants, pubs and coffee shops in the Okanagan Valley. Some popular favorites include Snowshoe Sam’s, Sessions Taphouse, and Bean Scene Coffee Works. Once you’re finished dining at one of the many culinary establishments, we won’t judge your inner snow-bunny if you want to hit up the slopes afterwards. Hey, we all warm up in different ways!

Get Competitive at Scandia Golf & Games

An excellent choice for family-friendly Kelowna attractions, Scandia Golf & Games is a fun place to visit year-round. The entire family will love putting at the indoor “jungled themed” mini-golf course as well as playing on the arcade games. After time spent having fun with your group, you’ll probably feel hungry. No need to worry! Scandia has tasty menu options to keep your hunger satisfied and your face smiling.

Cold Weather Wine Tastings

Who says visiting Okanagan wineries has to be a summer activity? Winter wine tastings are certainly something special! You’ll typically see a decrease in crowds, usually providing a more intimate experience with the connoisseur, beautiful views of the vineyard and oftentimes Okanagan Lake, and of course, delicious samples of whites and reds. If you’re seeking out a delightful Kelowna experience, locals love sipping at St Hubertus & Oak Bay Vineyard & Estate Winery, Tantalus Vineyards, the Hatch, Spierhead Winery and more!

Cheer on the Rockets

Even though it’s a little chilly in the arena, once you start cheering on Kelowna’s CHL hockey team, you’ll warm right up! From September to March, the Kelowna Rockets play their hearts out in hopes they’ll make it to the playoffs. If you’re looking for a true local Okanagan attraction, you can’t miss the chance to catch a Rockets game! Tickets can be purchased here.

Have a Culture Day

When people think “Okanagan Valley,” their minds tend to go towards vineyard hopping or lounging on one of the city’s many pristine beaches. However, there’s an admirable variety of cultural opportunities here as well. Consider checking out an exhibit at the local art gallery before heading to the Okanagan Wine & Orchard Museum or to the Actor’s Studio for a play.

I think we can all agree that summer sightseeing in the valley is a must for plenty, (that’s why our population doubles when it’s warm!) but winter needs some love too. There’s tons of fun things to do in Kelowna all year long and that’s why an increasing amount of people are purchasing property in Canada’s “four season playground”. I love what I do and I love where I live; if you’re ready to invest in property right here in my favorite city, get in touch and let’s get started!
