Recently, data was released from Census 2016 that Kelowna was amongst the top growing cities in Canada, and for good reason. We have hot summers, mild winters, countless beaches, world-class ski resorts and who could forget the award-winning Okanagan wineries? Even if you don’t drink wine, there’s something for everyone at these local vineyards like funky gift shops and picturesque views of the valley and Okanagan Lake. Who knows? Maybe these wine-sipping locations have something to do with our massive population growth over the last few years!
The Vibrant Vine
Arguably one of the most unconventional wineries in the Okanagan, the Vibrant Vine is certainly something special. Upon your arrival, you’ll be instructed to put on a pair of 3D glasses as the entire interior has been created for a “trippy” experience for the customer. From the colourful artwork, the funky trinkets and of course, the wine bottles, this winery might just be the most fun you’ll ever have at a vineyard. And yes, the wine is outstanding! Make sure you ask about “Woops” – it’ll make sense at the winery.
Located in South East Kelowna, the View Winery & Vineyard is an amazing experience. Described on the website as “fun & flirty,” the romantic vibes from this location are hard to miss and makes for the perfect day-date with friends or that special someone. Wines of note from the View include the “Voulez View Rouge”, the Pinot Gris, and “Pink Bling Sparkling Wine”.
House of Rose
House of Rose is an inviting and cozy wine tasting experience that certainly delivers with their product. Located in a country orchard, summers are a delight at this vineyard. They offer picnic packages that include snacks and wine for you to enjoy at their picturesque property. As for the wines, be sure to try their “Unoaked Chardonnay” if you’re a white drinker or their “Hot Flash” if you prefer reds.
This winery is located in Lake Country but is definitely worth the drive. When you visit Intrigue Wines, you’ll feel enlightened and educated on not only their own wine products, but the art of tasting wine in general. It’s undeniable how proud the sommeliers are of their product and the reason is obvious: their vino is unquestionably impressive. Ensure you check out their gift shop filled with preserves, locally sourced sausage & cheese and more. As for their wines, try their “Frosted Vines”, “Social Red”, and “I Do – Pink Sparkling Wine”.
Love everything Medieval? Then you have to check out Camelot Vineyards, a winery so closely based on the story of King Arthur, you’ll even get to attempt the famous “Sword in the Stone”. This wine tasting experience is great for picture taking opportunities but it’s even better for sipping on their delicious products. Unique and delicious, try out the “White Knight” and the “Pinot Noir” that will have you wanting to visit time and time again.
It’s no wonder our beautiful city is seeing an exceptional growth – everyone wants a permanent taste of Kelowna for themselves.
